I started photographing when I was 6 years old with my grandmas 110 film camera. It was love at first sight and I was asking her to sign me up for a NYI course at 9. She laughed and said wait a few years! After all 500 bucks was a lot of money to invest... so she bought me a polaroid camera and supplied me with film. As I got into high school my love deepened when my mom gave me her Pentax K1000 my 8th grade year. Lots of photos of my cats later I evolved to landscapes and people *gasp*. This was a great form of self expression since my parents had divorced and my new stepfather was an artist. He taught me to watercolor, paint and other things art related. As I entered high school I applied for the yearbook staff (yes I was ambitious as a freshman) and was DENIED! bummer! Anyway so I persevered and kept it up. My early inspiration was fashion and I still am very inspired by that today. After doing "modeling" shoots with a lot of my friends and learning the darkroom I started getting compliments. I knew I was on the right track when the photo lab started complimenting them. woohoo! I reapplied for the yearbook and newspaper, newspaper accepted and yearbook again denied, but I got the last laugh when they started asking me to go on assignments too because all of their staff photos were blurry. :D After high school I continued into college where I studied under one of the greatest reportage photographers in Ft. Worth, Peter Fereston. He was a flirty older man and was absolutely delightful. His work is archived at the Amon Carter. He saw something in me and displayed me in my first "gallery exhibit" in our hall on campus. :D I continued pursuing my dream after I married and moved overseas and then when I came back kicked it up a notch. My business has grown steady and the last 2 years was completely overwhelming for a one man operation. I have studied under some true masters of the art/craft and realized after a life changing seminar that somewhere along the line, I had let go of myself and my passion. I love my work don't get me wrong, but that first love was superceded by production, marketing, and the cares of life. With it part of me was gone as well, replaced by a new stressed out, high strung and grumpy version! ACK! Lord help us! So what is a girl to do? Well, this girl decided to scale back, only take the work I truly love, spend more time with those I love and focus on the craft. This is where our journey begins. I am going to start a few self assignments that will become a collection. Phase 1 is going to be shot through my grandfathers rangefinder provided it is still operational! :D for 30 days we are shooting FILM! My first love. I am so excited to bring the passion back to my work so that I can bring new vision and excitement to my clients this is one of many changes here this year. A Wedding Performance

well, i finally figured out why I love weddings... I grew up around performances... my mom was a dance teacher, and I started performing at age 3. after i was in high school, I danced, and then started figure skating. The feeling of getting butterfly's as you are about to go on, hoping you don't forget your routine, that had been DRILLED into your head with so much practice you didn't like the dance anymore. lol... Then you feel that RUSH as you head out onto the stage, feeling beautiful and confident, you gracefully walk out and wait for the curtain to open. When it does, the lights and music overtake you as you feel the music and every beat within as if it is going through your very soul. It is as if you were meant to move to it. The excitement of bringing people joy, entertainment, and emotion as you pour yourself into the routine. As the last note sounds, you feel thrilled, elated, and the hint of sadness that your moment in the spotlight has passed until next time. I call it E.L.D. Event Let Down. As a performing artist you never tire of the rush that comes from performing.

Every wedding I do is a performance, the thrill of running around being part of something bigger than yourself, the butterflies and excitement as the moment builds up, for the bride to walk down. After all, she is the Prima ballerina and it is my job to do my routine in a way to make her stand out and look her best as she stars in the show. As the event comes to a close, full of emotion, she has had the performance of a lifetime. When I finally feel that hint of sadness/elation as she makes her exit stage right, and goes off with her partner, I turn off the lights, and leave knowing that I was blessed to enjoy the rush and thrill of performing once again... and can't wait until the next time.

Jacob's four year old session was due and his mother and I agreed, why not the Dallas Arboretum? The location allows some of the best children's photography in the DFW metroplex. It has beautiful scenery all in one location! When I got there, Jacob (who I hadn't seen since he was 2!) says Shelli? Yes, I'm Shelli, "are we going to take some pictures?" Yep! Are you ready to have FUN Jacob? " Yes, I'm ready for an adventure! This child is so sweet, smart, and cute... he actually remembered me from last session, remembered me giving him candy, and the EXACT spot I gave it to him at!!!! If you ask me the kid is a genius... and of course I was melted from the get go. :) I guess you could say he had me from hello. ha ha.

We had a great time, he got a little tuckered there at the end, but was still a super trooper, no doubt he will make an excellent Ironman this halloween. :) Optimus Prime and Jacob were GREAT clients. :)

Well, under advice from a fellow professional, My blog has been neglected! So in order to update and get back in the habit, i wanted to present an article i read recently and found interesting. I genuinely care about the work i present, and want my clients to be informed to avoid problems just like this!

The article was in regards to a new photographer who was just getting started (300-800.00 range). She had nice samples, but had totally destroyed a brides wedding photos, because of a lack of education and experience. The judge was so disturbed by this he ordered her to come back and have legal paperwork to show her business was legit, BEFORE shooting any other photographs. Come to find out, she was not operating legally, paying taxes etc, and had only shot a few weddings for friends and was calling herself a professional. The only experience she had prior to this was photographing her own children. This is one of the comments by another photographer, and my own personal ones are as follows...
We all had to start somewhere, I started off doing photographs for a friends wedding, BUT I had been shooting film on a manual camera and studying for 4 years. I studied, contacted other photographers, and asked them what i needed to know, read books, watched videos..... I made sure I had backup. The BEST and safest way to break into the industry is study as a second shooter FIRST, this is the best way... and ALWAYS ensure your photographer is insured. The bottom line is please be informed...this is your special day, you wouldn't price shop for a surgeon, don't price shop with your memories!!!
Other photographers mentioned these other things as well...
*There really are no checks and balances on this industry. Anyone with a kit Nikon and a couple of memory cards can call themselves a pro and promote themselves as anything. In lieu of a government agency taking over our industry and regulating everything we can help our newbie bretheren with some good advice. A) Shoot with an established pro and learn the ropes. B) Don't shoot ANYTHING without a contract, even if you're not charging for it. C) Make sure your client knows what you can and can't do. Make sure YOU do too. Never oversell yourself. Scott C

Cassie and Koda were married August 15 in Kaufman. They are a great couple, she is fun to ham it up for the camera, and he is very in love with her.

I just had the honor of doing a newborn session for one of my wedding couples. Great couple, beautiful baby. It seems as if right at the end of the pregnancy, daddy was laid off work. It is so hard on young couples, starting at the lower end of the payscale, trying to move up/advance... but how scary to lose your job with a new baby on the way. My heart went out to them, because my husband and I were in this exact same spot, several years ago. Mom works but is on maternity leave, and dad does all sorts of side work. So I'm putting my request out, if you need odd/end jobs, such as painting, mechanic work, motorcyle work, most anything, please contact me. I am not going to put their info on here, as to keep this matter private, BUT, i rest assured any emails or phone calls offering this dependable, hard working young man a job will be passed along to them. He even does mowing. we all need that!!!

Wow, it's been a LONG time

It has been a really long time since i've blogged. Sorry guys! The low season didn't happen this year... thank God it has been busy busy busy. Learning how to prioritize my time has been my main goal... I seem to think if I organize it well enough that I can fit so much more into it, than humanly possible. ha ha. My business hours have been adjusted, and in order to better serve my clients, we are implementing some new policies. They should help ensure that my service and turnaround are what my customers have come to respect and expect from me!

Here are some things that have been going on since the last post.

1. I started a newsletter.
2. We added a new name... I own Alpha and Omega Photography Studios.. written out in the Greek AO Photography.
3. We were chosen to be the Community photographer for Heartland Homes 09
4. We were part of one of the largest shows in the country.
5. attended a seminar by one of the top names in wedding photography, and changed labs to a great one in California...
6. many many sessions... lots of editing, lots of album design etc.

I promise to get on here more and keep you updated better!

Crystal and Hutch

Crystal and Hutch are a great couple. They looked radiant and beautiful on their special day. Not only have they merged as a couple, but they have pulled a genuine brady bunch! Their children teared up and even walked them down the aisle. Hutch, thinks Crystal hung the moon, as he stared at her with so much love in his eyes, i actually choked up! Of course, i have to suck back the emotion, because otherwise i couldn't see through the viewfinder. Either way, they look just like the movies, starry eyed, and happy. Congrats on your wedding!

Chris is Ag all the way. Which i think is fabulous!!!! So many people have neglected the art of agriculture that i often wonder how in the world, we will feed ourselves once the old time farmers/ranchers leave this world. It is sad that so many have no idea or interest. On the other hand, there are still those that really are passionate about nature, and everything country. This is where Chris comes in. With a down to earth nature, the patience of a saint (ha ha, the photographer took a really long time today!), and the style of a country legend, we had a great day capturing the real Chris in his senior portraits. In all reality, I had a very nice young man, willing to let me do a little photographic portfolio building, and I took advantage of it! All of these neat new techniques i've been dying to try, i got to! so now all that is left is for his mom to choose between the awesome collection of photos that we took!

This past weekend I worked a christmas party for a national construction company... It was a great party, and they hired a wonderful band to perform. After my shift was over, i decided to leave the bread and butter shooting to go do a little fun stuff. I went and took a FEW snapshots of the band. At 19 I did a CD insert for a local band, and had fun with it, so when i get the chance I enjoy doing band photography. Here are a few.

BRIDES, these guys perform at weddings and from what i hear are excellent value for the price. They were nice, seemed professional and I look forward to recomending them to those brides who want to go beyond a dj and step it up a notch. I'm a fan of MANY kinds of music, everything from big band, metallica, alan jackson, beatles, eric clapton... you name it... i would love to hear them bust out with some nickelback... I enjoyed everything they played, and they kept people dancing.

Wow! We had a fun time today doing Shanna and Jason's engagment session. It was clear after 5 minutes, that we are going to have a fantastic wedding too! Shanna is sweet and photogenic... Rikki is a DIE HARD cowboys fan, and did this session for her daddy. Her mom and her called me from Louisiana, needing a photographer, and today we did her bridals at the Texas Stadium. We had so much fun, finished up at the galleria mall with yummy desserts and soda pop. woohoo! Her mother Kelly and her were very gracious, and i'm so happy to have met them! This is my dog Jake. He was attacked last Wednesday by a pit bull that we had helped raise from a puppy. He was my brother in law's dog, and had been staying with us this past year. After increasing in aggression towards everything but us, I went outside to see what was going on to find the pit attacking my lab. For over an hour we struggled to get him free (me and 2 police officers), until my husband finally got home from work to break it up. This was HORRIBLE to witness. He was rushed to the animal ER, and then transferred the next day to a vet. He has been in the vets for a week, and still has wounds so deep you could stick your whole finger in it. For the past few years family and friends have been asking us to put the dog down, but since he wasn't ours, we kept him in hopes the owner would get him. So we fed him, bought super duty fence etc, all to witness him hurt our dog. He always showed signs of agression, but we thought he was just being protective. when people begged us to get rid of him we claimed, "he's a big baby", then he tried to attack a family member.... then he killed small animals.... then he bit a person.... then he tried to kill my dog. you can only imagine what the next step would be. so to all of you out there who believe that signs of agression exclude you and your household... think again. Once they cross they line it only escalates. I am thankful it wasn't a person. That being said, pits are not all bad, but considering 90% of them are bred by backyard breeders, and many have fighting dogs in their blood, they do snap... if you choose to own a pit bull, or other agressive breed, please, please purchase it from a reputable breeder, and spend the extra cash. You and your family will be glad you did. I will spare you the after photos of Jake. I will include a photo of Apollo, as you can see he was loved, and not mistreated. He was NEVER fought, or taught to be agressive, my brother in law and the dog lived with us for 90% of his 6 years of life. He was a family dog, loved, played with, and NOT kept on a chain. There was NO reason for his violence. Jake could just walk past him, and get growled at the last 6 months. at around 5 they feel the need to establish dominance in the pack, and since jake was old, he decided to eliminate him for leadership. Apollo would stand up, put his front paws on my shoulder, and lick my face. His head was wider than mine. It broke our hearts that this happened, we loved him. After witnessing him do this atrocity, we were just crushed. Please keep prayers going up for Jake, and thanks for all the ones contributed already. :)

Jackie and Arthur were married last weekend. They are such a delight! One of these images was taken as the lighting actually was for preservation of mood. The Ceremony was completely candle lit. Jackie and Arthur were accompanied down the aisle by their children... and let me tell you they were something else... as seen in the other photos... haha.

Speaking of the Servants bookstore, I went and took professional photographs of the location today. Shelly the owner (very sweet), is compiling a book of the building process. This place is awesome! Why drive to Mesquite, when we have this wonderful christian bookstore and gift shop right here!!! Gas is expensive people!!! You can't put a price on the gas you'll save, the friendly personable service and the GREAT coffee! My favorite thing there is the bacon, egg and cheese bagel... they toast that bagel to perfection! Not to mention the wonderful coffee! YUM!

Anyway, this location has it all in my opinion.... like the ahem, other coffee chain, you are not just paying for a great cup of Joe, you are also paying for the great ambiance and atmosphere. The intimate seating nooks, and wonderful architectural elements add something special to that cup. Not to mention the great christian feel to the place. Whether you are a christian or not, this is a perfect place to visit for coffee, breakfast or lunch/dinner. Homemade soups, pastries, salads and as I've mentioned breakfasts abound, they even have a drive through. It is also a perfect place for parties!!! Whether they be bridal/baby showers, bible studies, birthday parties, or even small family or friendly get togethers. I plan on renting it myself. Well, Jackies bridals were about a month ago and I did their wedding yesterday, so i can reveal one!!! yippee!

This couple is great. Heather and JT were married today. It was a beautiful wedding full of emotion. Heather and JT met through friends several years back, and have been together ever since. I'm sure they are thanking that friend today! Heather is lace, and JT is rock and roll, but never the less they are perfect for one another. Their parents made a beautiful slide show, and there wasn't many dry eyes in the house. They are on their way to their honeymoon, and I wish them a safe and fun trip. Ok, I know I said this a few weeks back, but I have to pass the trophy for "Most relaxed bride" onto Amy. We get there and start getting situated and discover Amy sitting back in a chair, smiling, not nervous or running around crazy! Brides THIS IS WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE! Many brides get all nervous, emotions are understandably high, but in the desire to make everything "perfect", which is impossible, they FREAK!! ha ha... It is all part of the job, and i've had wonderful brides, but this is supposed to be the happiest day of your life! Not the most stressful! So when you are prepping for the wedding and you start getting the feeling of "I just want to get this OVER with", that means you need to slow down, take some breaths and think about what this is really all about! LOVE. Companionship. Unity and a covenant. Who cares if a baby cries, or you get a run in the pantyhose... it's all small stuff, and DON'T SWEAT the SMALL STUFF!

Anyway, back to Amy and Rick... They were chilling out, relaxed playing foosball and visiting. After the ceremony started which was wonderful, we did a big group photo. The reception was slammin' with everyone having a great time, including Isabelle who had her own private jr. chipendale. ha ha JUST TEASING!!! The afternoon ended with this sweet couples afterparty. Well, for those of you who don't know, I'm a big softie with animals. I am too soft hearted to leave any if i find them, although i have had to a time or two. Anyway, I guess I'm rubbing off on my husband. he came home and told me he found this little guy almost getting run over. We already have rescued several, and it looks as if we might end up having to move to make room for these little guys. This little one is Blue, and he is about 6 months old. He will be staying with us unless we find his owner, or a rescue. Knowing me, we just got a new dog. :) Isn't he so cute!

On Father's Day, I photographed Meranda and Joel's wedding. As you can see they are a handsome couple. Meranda's family exhudes southern charm to the max!!! The mother of the bride and the bride were, in one word, Classy. The father of the bride was an excellent dancer, and Congrats to the parents on their 30th anniversary! The groom was surrounded by loving parents and siblings, and a very fun bunch! He has many people who care deeply for him.

As far as the wedding goes, it was a very tasteful and elegant affair, the ceremony was candle lit followed by a jamming reception! Meranda and Joel, Congrats, and I hope you are enjoying the beach right now!

Patty and James, are 2 very sweet people. Their parents have done such a good job raising them. James is absolutely head over heels with Patty, and they literally just look like they melt one another. James is a teacher, and is in a band with Patty. He is passionate about politics and several other areas we had a blast discussing. You get that warm fuzzy feeling just looking at them together. They radiate love. Anyway, this couple is destined for greatness and I am so pleased to be their photographer. Patty should have been a flower child in the 60's, she is the most mellow, and considerate person. If Patty had a theme song, I think it would be "Don't worry be happy". :) I consider them both dear friends, and can't wait to go on a double date with them when they settle into their married life. They live the motto "treat others as you want to be treated".

They are off on their honeymoon right now enjoying a small town in east Texas. Congrats Patty and James! May you have a blessed future together.

June 7th, 2008- Kimberly and Eric were married today at the Victorian house. They were a great couple to work with and are off celebrating their honeymoon in PARIS!!!! woohoo!!! They know how to do a honeymoon right!

Anyway, Kim has great taste in decor, she chose beautiful yellow roses and black and white for the bridal party. Gorgeous! It was very touching because this wasn't just the union of husband and wife, there was a family born of this union. It was very touching when Kimberly's son joined them for their first dance. Congrats Kim and Eric, the photos will be up within a few days! Here are some teasers for now!

P.S. I promised Kim I would publicly proclaim that she was the most EASY GOING RELAXED bride I've ever seen!!! No nerves, everytime I called her she was like, no I'm fine, no questions, see you at the wedding!!! So there you go Kim, I said it!

Memorial Day

Well, This past Monday was a day to honor the soldiers. I would like to thank every veteran for your sacrifice whether during war or peace. As a former military wife, I understand your sacrifices. I would like to tribute this post to my husband who is ex military, and his deceased grandfather Robert, who served during WW2. I would also like to honor my friend Jamye's father in law Mr. Perelli, who is also a WW veteran, my cousin Michael who is still serving, and all of my family members and clients who serve and have served. Thank you.

Whew! Long time no blog!

Well, it has been almost a month since my last entry. That is because it has been VERY busy for me. First of all it is baseball season, dance season, and wedding season! Oh and let's not forget end of school. Secondly, I have to edit sometime!

What have I been working on you ask...

I photographed Ben, he is a little cutie I've worked with before, and his mom is a Mary Kay lady if you ever need one, email me! Ben is working on Kindergarten and t-ball. He was a little stink pot when we did his photos and played shy! We still managed to get some cute stuff though.

Then I worked with the local dance company and photographed their dancers in pretty costumes and at the recital. Every year i work on this gig, i leave wanting the soundtrack!

In addition to this I've been working with baseball teams, a local private school and the local newspaper. That was very fun. I'm hoping to work with them a lot in the near future.

Oh and I can't forget, Jackie and Arthur's engagement session. we went to the arboretum and had a great time. They are such a nice couple! Their wedding will be in August and I can't wait to photograph Jackies custom gown. They are a very photogenic couple.

Well, today was a great day. I had the chance to photograph 2 very precious puppies. One of my clients that i met last year asked me to come photograph her brand new babies. The furry kind. :) These little guys were the size of my hand, and their feet barely hung over the edge. Tiny noses smaller than the tip of my little finger, and little eyes that peeked out. It was so much fun, and I adore this family. They are very awesome people.

Ethan is the little black one, and he was posing like he should have been on GQ, until nap time rolled around, then he turned into a ball of fluff! Emma is the little white one, and she was very timid of the lighting, but sweet and cuddly. The stuffed animals she is posed with are infant sized stuffed animals, very tiny. Her mother is recovering after a rough delivery, but is doing very well. They already have quality homes, and Emma is going to be a Calif0rnia hottie, and Ethan is going to be a born and bred Texan.

Well the day finally arrived! Tracy and Mick tied the knot! This couple is the engagement couple i had written about earlier. The day was beautiful, with many people coming to share in their day. A huge bridal party accompanied them, and they were cool as cucumbers as they confidently said "I do". Finally I had the pleasure of meeting the rest of the family, Tracy's parents. A retired Colonel and his wife, they were also a delight. I was very proud to photograph the wedding of such a fine, and self sacrificing couple. As a former military family member, it IS a sacrifice, and I VERY much appreciate it. If any of you are reading this and serve now, or are a vet, THANK YOU!!!

Anyway, back to the subject! Tracy and Mick should have bought stock in kleenex before this event, because at some point i think most people cried, including me who teared up. This is a weakness, i'm a softy. They were kind enough to invite me to the after party, but i had a senior session to run to before the sun went down. So i'll be taking them up on fun another time. :) They will be honeymooning in Orlando later this summer. Many blessings to my new friends, Tracy and Mick, may you both enjoy a lifetime of happiness and blessings as you go through your journey together. In the words of Tracy's family, "always put the other one first".

Yesterday I photographed 2 high schoolers that are close to my heart. The Anders brothers. These young men attend church with me and are just great guys. Ladies, they're taken, but you would be lucky to catch one.... so keep your ears on. :) Although i don't want to ruin their rep, these are Godly men in the making. They were nice enough to pose for some photos on a beautiful day. Hopefully this fills the gap in photo albums! Men, what is it with y'all and pictures?!

Girly Day

Yesterday I had the priviledge of hanging out with my friend Jamye. She is another local professional photographer. We spent the day hunting cool places to photograph YOU! When you live in a smaller community, many times things are more spread out. This is one of it's most endearing qualities, but presents challenges when doing location sessions. When scheduling an outdoor session keep that in mind. I always ask my clients questions about their personalities. This tells me where they would be photographed the best and how i should photograph them to best represent them. Every one of my clients is a unique individual and sessions are custom tailored to fit their needs.

Anyway, we had a great time and took advantage of the opportunity to photograph each other to update our personal photos. It is hard to get pictures of yourself when you are the one behind the lens. If you want to talk about intimidating, try photographing another pro photographer. Details many wouldn't even care about, make us cringe!!! It's neat though and keeps you at the top of your game! I am so glad to have met this great person, and enjoyed the challenge! She made a lovely model though, so taking nice photos of her was easy.

Nikki is a friend from church. She is a real sweetheart and is graduating with an Associates degree this year in Interior Design. I am so proud of her! She comes from a precious family who is a real inspiration. Parents could take lessons from them, they are that great! Such a tremendous bond is shared between the parents and grown children, it is quite remarkable. Their advice (when i asked them!) was spend as much time making memories as you can with your children and raise them to love Jesus. Pearls of wisdom. Congrats Nikki for sticking with it! Jamie and Jasmine are very dear to me. We met a few years back through a mutual friend and their mom, also a close friend of mine. I've seen these girls grow up before my eyes. There isn't a doubt in my mind that they won't be very successful in whatever they choose to do with the future. Jamie is into horses, and Jasmine is into trouble. :)

Today we had a studio session with them, and it was a blast! Tomorrow we are doing an outdoor session, so keep tuned in to see those as well. I may have the honor of being the first photographer of 2 up and coming models if they keep posing this well. Thanks girls!

Teddy Bear Tea

Today I attended a tea party with the Girl Scouts of America. It was a great opportunity for the little ladies to be big girls and girly to the max. These were given out as souvenir photos for the kids. Mom's and daughters had a good time having mini cakes, tea and princess wands completed the day with a picture frame of course! Girl power!!! I love that the GSA teaches young girls to be independent and adventurous. I am not going to burn any bras or anything, but i do like girls being taught they can grow up and be and do anything they desire! I equally support the boy scouts and what they are doing for young men, but since I'm a girl, I'm partial! :)
Just for the record, I do not use any children's photographs on my website or blog without the parents permission, these parents were kind enough to let me share! Thanks! Way to go Pat for all your hard work on this event.

Yesterday I did 2 sessions, with Amy & Rick, and with Hillary. Hillary graduated this year and needed some senior photos. She attends church with me, and is such a sweetheart. We had a good time chatting, eating overpriced food :) and taking lots and lots of photos. Since LOTS of photos are her "thing" that is what we did. Taking full advantage of a beautiful day and lots of flowers we girlied it up. We will be doing her cap and gown session later this week.

Amy & Rick are a great couple that I recently met at the Victorian house. Their wedding is scheduled for August. We decided to take advantage of a beautiful spring day and do their engagement photos at the Dallas Arboretum. Amy and Rick are very lighthearted and funny. Humour is evidently a big part of their relationship, so we worked very well together. I often tell clients that I am a big joker, that is my way of putting people at ease. Since this was their nature as well we spent the day laughing and goofing off. I am looking forward to doing the wedding, it should be a great time.

Today I ventured out into the elements for Patty and James. They are one of my June couples, and I'm looking forward to photographing their wedding. Since they like having LOTS of attendants, i am plotting my posing strategy now. :) *wink* They will each have 8... It's easy to see why though because these two must have a ton of people that love them. Their gentle and kind natures are very obvious. We clicked very quickly and make a good team i believe.
We spent the day taking their engagement photos. Patty was a trooper, and forgot her coat, yet smiled through chattering teeth. James warmed us all up with some great coffee. It felt as if we were a group of friends hanging out, and we just so happened to be taking photos. Awesome day.
I can't wait to spend more time with this couple. This has been a good week, 2 couples i really enjoyed spending time with. We have a lot in common, and the conversation and photos were smooth and just flowed. Keep an eye out Dallas, this band is up and coming. When their site gets finished I will try to post a link.

Tracy & Mick

Tracy and Mick.... what can i say about them. They are in love. They are so cute together and you can just tell, they are going to make it. The two of them came to me about 2 or 3 months ago to inquire about wedding photography. When we met at the coffee house, i could tell these people were going to be fun to work with. Tracy is one of the most laid back brides that i've encountered to date, so sweet and a teacher at that! That just about qualifies her for saint hood in my book. :) We were talking about their special day, and i just kept sitting there thinking, where do i know him from? Then Mick says, some people say i look like Val Kilmer... sure enough, that was it! He does favor him quite a bit. The couple met on Eharmony, and could make a commercial. :)

My husband and I went to take their engagement photos yesterday and had so much fun with them. I'm hoping to get on their good side by the wedding date , because they just seem like the kind of folks you would have a blast hanging around with! Besides they got a margarita machine for a bridal gift... don't have to call me twice! Tracy is getting some great in-laws. They were so supportive and helpful. Here are a few from their session. Thursday I had the honor of photographing Kristen and Matt's wedding. It was wet and cold and snowed later. They had their event on a day when Texas had an identity crisis and thought it was Wisconsin!!!!! GO GREEN BAY PACKERS... woops, did i say that out loud?

Anyway, in spite of weather obstacles they had a beautiful wedding filled with love and warmth. Their family members were all so supportive and helped them with all of the details. Her grandmother was ironing the veil, her aunt was helping with makeup and the men, well they were playing foosball. :) The event was held at The Victorian House, one of my favorite spots to work at. It was a candle lit ceremony followed by a reception. Celebrate Cakes did a great job on the yummy brides cake. I wish you many years of happiness, it was wonderful meeting you and your families. I can't wait to take portraits of them as a new family with their pets. They are currently enjoying a beautiful and fun honeymoon at Disney World! I'm so jealous, that is one of my favorite spots! Hello and Welcome to my new blog!!!

Well after a week of not writing anything, (my perfectionism at work!) I decided to keep it simple in order to post!

This is my blog, and I am so excited to have another avenue to share sessions and new ideas. A fellow photographer in the area got me hooked on this idea, her blog is great, and it was such a great idea... Thanks Jamye!

I am a professional photographer in Kaufman County, TX. A native Texan, born and bred where the west begins, we moved here to Kaufman in 2000. My husband is former military and when he was released we relocated to his hometown. We had previously been stationed overseas.
After all the settling in was finished, i finally got my business off of the ground in 2006, and have no intentions of leaving the area. The military tends to make you want to stay put!

I photograph weddings, portraits, events and commercial. It is all something I'm very passionate about and put a lot into every session to guarantee unique results that capture the subjects personality and many sides. I am going to post photos from upcoming sessions, and older ones just for fun. My next post will be samples of some recent work, and just for fun i might throw in one from my very first wedding when i was 18. Disclaimer: The first wedding photo is very embarassing, and is definately NOT representative of my current work, but everyone has to have a first! That was 12 years ago now... but don't tell anyone, i've been 25 for about 5 years now. :)
